Manchester Histories Festival

February 16, 2012

Manchester Histories Festival is starting on the 24 February and continues history events every day until 4 March. On many of these days there are events at the Museum.

On Saturday 25 February you can book onto a walking tour of the Museum called – Eight lions and an umbrella. The tours start at 12 & 3pm and our tour guide uses the history of the umbrella as a starting point, this urban safari is an exploration of Manchester’s heritage as a Northern Leontopolis (City of Lions) and an introduction to Survival French.

If Manchester’s changing weather is more your thing, also on Saturday 25 February at 2.30 you can quiz EcoCities project researchers who will speak a bit more about their research of changing weather patterns in Greater Manchester. There will be plenty of time to ask questions on any aspect of their work on the changing climate, historic impacts and adapting ‘whatever the weather’.

Other Manchester Museum events include talks on Marie Stopes and Manchester Museum, the Salford Sioux and participate in a knitting workshop.
