New Literature peformance in the Manchester Museum and Alan Turing

August 17, 2012

Wednesday 22 August is a busy night at the Museum, as there are two events.

The evening starts at 5.30pm with a discussion about Alan Turing; Science and Sexuality linked with Manchester Pride Festival. Join speakers Henry Mcghie, James Sumner and Eva Navarro López – at the end of the discussion there will be an opportunity to see University buildings where Alan Turing worked.

At 7.30pm Manchester based collective Bad Language bring together two well-known writers of poetry and prose to create new work established from content inside the Manchester Museum.

Over the month of August, acclaimed writers Jenn Ashworth and Helen Mort will be working with the Museum to develop new writing based on our displays. On 22 August they will perform these pieces to a live audience in our Living Worlds gallery, as part of an evening of new writing featuring work from emerging writers in the region.

The project has been funded through Arts Council England and ARC as part of their Northern Elements series of events.
