Harmony Choir sing in Manchester Museum

February 24, 2014

On Saturday 1 March, Manchester Museum is welcoming Harmony who are going to be singing ‘Songs from Around the World’ in our reception area from 2.30pm.

In the past year, we’ve had wonderful performances from local choirs Manchester Community Choir and Do Your Thing and a song workshop run by Caroline Bithel, a senior lecturer in Ethnomusicology at the University of Manchester. So we were delighted when Harmony approached the Museum to sing, whilst they are visiting Manchester. Look out for more choirs performing in the Museum as part of the Festival of Learning in May and June 2014.

Harmony is a Newbury-based mixed-voice choir, whose members share an enthusiasm for singing a truly varied range of music. Though equally at home with music both sacred and secular, from Mozart to ‘Mama Mia’ , they have a particular fondness for foreign folk music, and after this long wet winter their programme will no doubt include a smattering of songs from sunny places!

Since being formed in 2005 the choir has performed in many venues, both locally and further afield, frequently in support of charitable causes. Over the last few years they have taken also taken part in a concert tour of Germany, and most recently in an international choir festival in Bratislava.

(More information about Harmony can be found on their website.
